The Authority’s training program is driven by our mission to provide innovative risk management solutions for our public agency partners.  Two components of the training program are academies and workshops.

Academies are multi-day training opportunities that focus on a particular public sector discipline.  They present essential training theories and techniques, and provide pragmatic solutions to solving everyday problems.  Academies are designed to develop growth in the individual, along with enhancing skills and strategies to meet the daily demands of their agency.

Workshops are training opportunities that are generally single-day events which are classified as follows: Required, those that Cal-OSHA or other regulatory agencies require for our members to be in legal compliance with the law; Recommended, those that are considered best risk management practices; and As Needed, those that develop growth in the individual or organization.

Core workshops, regardless of the aforementioned classifications, are considered to be Core, due to loss history or exposure to the pool.  They are offered regionally throughout the year.

Depending upon the need, training is provided exclusively to an individual member, or on a regional basis, where a member is host to other members in their region. Members are divided into eight regions to assist in scheduling.

To request training, complete a Training Request form (PDF format) and either email Michelle Aguayo at maguayo@cjpia.org, or fax her at (562) 402-8692. For more information please contact Michelle at (562) 467-8777.
